Huge quantity of counterfeit goods seized at the Bulgarian border
The Customs detained 1 255 counterfeit perfumes and eau de toilette amounted to 125 500 leva in the luggage of a Romanian citizen travelling from Turkey to Romania. The counterfeit fragrances were indicated with the famous brands BOSS, NINA RICCI, ARMANI, LACOSTE. Additionally in the luggage of the citizen there were also 40 pairs of sport shoes and 30 pieces of sport clothing bearing the trademarks ADIDAS and NIKE. Obviously the amount of seized goods is not intended for personal use only as some of infringers are trying to explain in similar cases.
The Customs authority provides further information for another attempt of a Bulgarian citizen to import 4 012 labels bearing the brands ARMANI and DOLCHE & GABANA and 8 kg of zipper sliders indicated with PUMA and ADIDAS. The goods are seized by the customs officers following the enforcement of EU Regulation 1383/2003 and the trademark owners are informed. The affixing of signs to goods or packaging is considered a use in course of trade and therefore the import of labels or other parts of clothing bearing famous trademarks without the consent of the trademark owners is also considered a trademark infringement.
